SEVEN POUNDS

Will committing suicide be considered a sin if you are doing it for a good purpose?

No one should take away his own life because it can be considered a crime. But what if sacrificing your own life can make two or three people live longer? Will it still be a bad idea? Maybe many will have mixed reactions about this.

Last summer when I took up literature, our teacher told us about the movie SEVEN POUNDS. She encouraged us to watch the movie because aside from being a good movie, it has also something to do with our topic- order of narration

I had the chance to watch this movie and i find it really nice. The movie has a logical order of narration. It did not start on the beginning, instead the first clip that was shown was when the main character called the police before he committed suicide.

Two years earlier,Tim Thomas (Will Smith) was on his car together with his fiancee. The scene was, he was giving a ring to his fiancee and didn't notice the road. Their car crashed to another car. It ended up in a tragedy killing seven people including his fiancee.

Feeling guilty of what happened, he decides on emancipation and set out to save seven lives. Little by little he decided to donate his organs to people who badly needs it including his brother Ben Thomas whom he donated his lung lobe. He did researches finding the most qualified candidates whom he will give his organs. Person who has a good heart.

In finding his lat two qualified candidates, he used his brothers credentials and pretended to be Ben Thomas, an IRS employee. Then he found his last two candidates where he gave his corneas and his heart.

He ended his life by filling his bath tub with lots of ice cubes and placing his deadly jelly fish which took away his life.
